M25 Accident: One Person Dead After Police Incident Shuts Down M25 Near M3 Junction

Traffic came to a standstill on the M25 Monday after a police-led incident left one person dead and forced the closure of part of the motorway near Heathrow Airport, authorities confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the scene between Junction 13 (Staines) and Junction 12 (M3), where the anti-clockwise carriageway was fully shut down. Police stopped traffic in both directions while they responded, causing significant delays across the area.

The clockwise side of the motorway was later reopened, but the anti-clockwise carriageway remains closed as police continue investigations. Motorists are facing delays of around 60 minutes anti-clockwise and up to 45 minutes clockwise, officials said.

National Highways reported that traffic was initially held in both directions to allow emergency services safe access to the scene. Drivers have been advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

Heathrow Airport also issued an alert warning travelers that delays on the M25 may affect journey times to and from the airport.

No details have yet been released regarding the identity of the person who died or the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police said updates will be provided as soon as further information becomes available.

Drivers are urged to check live travel updates before setting out and to plan for extended travel times while closures remain in place.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
