CANTON, Ga. — Authorities in Cherokee County are continuing to search for a man who has been missing since Sunday after leaving his home with his dog.
Canton Police say 61-year-old James “Greg” Powell walked away from his residence at approximately 9:09 a.m. on Sunday. His vehicle was later located at the River Green Tennis Courts, located at 111 Raquet Club Drive, according to investigators.
Powell’s dog, named Ally, was found several days later, according to the National Center for Missing and Endangered, Inc., which shared an alert about the case on social media. However, Powell has not yet been located.
He was last seen wearing a large blue jacket and blue sweatpants. Police have not released any additional details regarding his direction of travel or possible destination.

Search teams, community volunteers, and law enforcement agencies have been canvassing the surrounding area as efforts continue.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen Powell or has information about his whereabouts to contact Cherokee County 911 or the Canton Police Department at 770-720-4883.
Officials also encouraged residents in the River Green community to review security camera footage and check outbuildings, wooded areas, and walking trails.
The search remains active.
