Detectives have opened a murder investigation after a 20-year-old man died from stab wounds in St Ann’s on Monday, police said.
Officers were called to Abbotsford Drive at around 12:50 p.m. on Nov. 10, where the man was found seriously injured. Paramedics provided emergency treatment, but he died a short time later.
Authorities said the victim’s family has been notified and is being supported by specially trained officers.
A team of detectives is now working to determine what led to the stabbing and who is responsible. Officers are urging anyone with information — no matter how minor it may seem — to come forward.
“Our thoughts remain with the man’s family during this incredibly difficult time,” Chief Superintendent Nick Waldram said. “Detectives are already working to understand exactly what happened in the moments before, during and after this incident.”
Waldram said investigators want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything that could help.
“No matter how insignificant you think your information may be, we want to hear from you without delay,” he said.
While police acknowledged concerns in the community, they said the incident is currently believed to be isolated and that there is no wider risk to the public.
Patrols in the area will be increased in the coming days to provide reassurance as the investigation continues, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote incident 292 of Nov. 10, 2025. Information may also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
