Steve Hall Waltham Cross

WOODBURY, N.J. — A 28-year-old man from Waltham Cross, United Kingdom, has been charged in connection with a fatal motor vehicle Accident that occurred in West Deptford on November 9, 2025, Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns announced.

Steve Hall has been charged with one count of second-degree Death by Auto and two counts of fourth-degree Assault by Auto. A first court appearance will be scheduled in the Gloucester County Central Judicial Processing Court.

According to court documents, officers from the West Deptford Police Department responded around 5:36 p.m. to PNS Gas and Food Mart after receiving a report of two intoxicated men. When officers arrived, they observed a white vehicle associated with the call leaving the gas station and traveling onto Hessian Road.

Police say an officer in a marked patrol vehicle activated emergency lights in an effort to stop the vehicle. Shortly afterward, the vehicle allegedly crossed into the opposite lane and collided with another car. The second vehicle, operated by Victim 1 and carrying a rear-seat passenger, Victim 2, sustained heavy damage.

Victim 1 suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased. Victim 2 sustained a leg fracture. A third individual, a passenger in Hall’s vehicle, suffered a dislocated hip. Hall himself was also injured. Witnesses reported seeing police lights in the distance and Hall’s vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed before the collision.

Because the fatal crash followed a police encounter, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is conducting a parallel investigation, as required under state law. The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, represented by Chief Assistant Prosecutor Alec Gutierrez, will handle the prosecution of Hall’s charges.

If convicted, Hall could face up to 10 years in state prison on the second-degree charge and up to 18 months on each fourth-degree offense.

The charges are accusations, and Hall is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Defense counsel has not yet been announced.
